Are You Ready for Biden-Clinton 2016?

COMMENTARY | According to AFP, Vice President Joe Biden is already looking ahead four years to Campaign 2016. He even has a dream ticket that is sure to win the hearts and minds of the American voters: Biden-Clinton.

This statement might or might not be an attempt at humor by the vice president as he prepares to try to secure for himself and his boss, President Barack Obama, four more years of misrule. But Biden has run for the top spot twice. He might have concluded the third time might be a charm.

According to the Christian Science Monitor, Biden has staked out an independent position on the subject of same-sex marriage. Biden is all for it, even as the administration would prefer not to talk about it beyond generalities of "fairness."

It is impossible to predict what the politics of 2016 are going to be like, even if one makes an assumption about the outcome of this year's election.

If Mitt Romney is elected, then there will be a scramble among Democrats to select the person who would try to deny him a second term. The same scramble would take place to extend the Democrats' period of misrule should Obama get four more years.

There are a number of flies in the ointment for Biden's dream ticket. Will Hillary Clinton actually want to run and if so would she settle for the second spot? From the 2004 election until an obscure less-than-one-term senator with the strange name of Barack Obama came on the scene, the assumption in Democratic circles was the 2008 election was Clinton's to lose. The problem was, she did. Running in 2016 and this time winning might be the sort of validation she would need.

Then again, maybe Democratic voters will not want aging, establishment figures like Biden or Clinton to run in 2016. Obama's main charm in 2008 was that he was novel, without an inconvenient record to sully the dream. Will the Democrats not turn to another young, unknown to be their great hope?

The Christian Science Monitor reveals Osama bin Laden was unimpressed by Vice President Biden. He didn't think that Biden was worth killing. Killing Obama would leave Biden as president, which would throw the "Great Satan" into chaos, according to the dead terrorist chieftain.

By Christian Lowe and Jana Mlcochova PRAGUE (Reuters) - It was a moment of high drama: the Czech prime minister stood up in parliament to try to salvage a political career torpedoed by the arrest of an aide, and Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg, sitting next to him, had dozed off.
