We really wanted this ‘Game of Thrones’ fan theory to be true

This year’s Game of Thrones season is slowly coming to an end. The season finale airs on Sunday and it will hopefully bring resolutions to several matters that have not been resolved. Sure, the Battle of the Bastards episode was one of the best this season, but there are plenty of other things happening in Westeros and Essos that need to be further explained. While we wait for the last episode of season 6 to hit HBO, we can confirm that one popular theory related to the most recent events in Game of Thrones has been officially shot down. Before we tell you what it is, you should be aware that major spoilers follow below. So don’t read any further unless you’ve already seen the first nine episodes of this season.

Sansa has grown to be the strong Stark female the family deserves, showing that she is her mother’s daughter. Arya has also evolved a great deal this season, but the following fan theory concerns the oldest Stark daughter.

Sansa described in great detail the kind of physical and mental abuse she had to deal with while she was married to Ramsay Bolton. “I can still feel what he did, in my body, standing here, right now,” she told him. Many viewers, including yours truly, took it as a hint that she might be pregnant with Ramsay’s child.

After the battle between the Starks and Boltons had ended, Sansa wanted to oversee the proper punishment of Ramsay personally. She had him killed by his unfed dogs, right in front of her. Before unleashing the hounds on him, Sansa spoke briefly with him and during the exchange, Ramsay told her that he is part of her now. This seemed like further confirmation that Sansa might be carrying his child.

However, that’s not the case. The Bolton bastard will not have a descendant. At least that’s what actor Iwan Rheon, who played Ramsay on the show, revealed to The Daily Beast in an interview.

“What he’s saying is that no matter what happens, what he’s done to her, very much like what he did to Reek—to Theon. Theon will never be able to shake off the horror that he’s been through and the mental and physical torture,” the actor said. “So in the same way, he’s saying to Sansa, “I’ve put my mark on you now. For the rest of your life, you will always remember the horror of the time you’ve spent with me.”

There you have it, fans, there's no Ramsay Jr. Stark on the way... unless this is another elaborate ruse from HBO. After all, it would make for quite a storyline.
