A line of heating and cooling units that might have been installed improperly and could be a fire hazard because of inaccurate information are among this week's list of recalled consumer items. Others include egg incubators that pose a fire hazard and defective crossbow cocking ropes.
HEATING AND COOLING UNITS
DETAILS: Amana packaged gas/electric heating and cooling units made by Goodman Co. The units have model number APG154911541BA and serial numbers beginning with 1206, 1207, 1208, 1209 and 1210. The model and serial numbers are printed on the serial plate attached to the control compartment door on the front of the unit. They were sold from June 2012 through October 2012.
WHY: The serial plates on the units have inaccurate information that could result in installers and servicers using undersized wiring, posing a fire hazard.
INCIDENTS: None reported.

EGG INCUBATORS
DETAILS: Egg Incubators made by Brower Division of Hawkeye Steel Products Inc. and sold at Mills Fleet Farm, Stromberg's Chick and Gamebirds Unlimited and other farm supply retailers from January 2009 to September 2010. The round, light gray plastic egg incubator has a clear plastic top used to hatch many different types of eggs. The incubator is 18 inches in diameter and 12 inches tall. It has two main components: a tray and a base. A crank arm and a turner motor are located in the base. The crank arm snaps into place on the turner motor. The motor turns the crank arm which, in turn, rotates the tray. The clear plastic top has an engraving which says "THIS SIDE UP." The model number is located on the side of the packaging box.
WHY: The base can ignite during use, posing a fire hazard to the consumer.
INCIDENTS: Brower received three reports of fires, all of which resulted in property damage. No injuries reported.

CROSSBOW COCKING ROPES
DETAILS: Game Winner crossbow cocking ropes imported by Academy Sports + Outdoors of Katy, Texas. They were sold exclusively at Academy stores nationwide and on the company's web site www.academy.com between June and October 2012. The cocking ropes help users get a better grip on the crossbow string and aid in pulling it back. They have an approximately 50-inch long black nylon rope, two black plastic hooks and two T-handles.
WHY: The hooks attaching the cocking rope to the crossbow string can break and cause it to recoil, posing a laceration hazard.
INCIDENTS: Four reports of the hooks on the cocking ropes breaking, causing the rope to recoil. Three of the incidents resulted in lacerations.
