Recognize this car? Police need help finding Tri-Cities driver who hurt pedestrian

Richland police are searching for the car that hit a man crossing Columbia Center Boulevard and then drove away.

The car, believed be a black early- to mid-2000s Toyota Avalon, was seen on security cameras about 1:30 a.m. Sunday, May 5.

The Avalon struck a man near Tapteal Drive, just north of Columbia Center mall, without stopping, Richland police said in a Facebook post.

The car was last seen on video in the area of North Kellogg Street and West Clearwater Avenue in Kennewick, police said.

“We are looking to identify the vehicle pictured and its driver,” police said. “The vehicle has a distinctive silver trim around the windows and will likely have damage to the front and/or passenger side mirror.”

Police have said the victim suffered serious injuries, including a head injury but officials have not released an update on his condition. He was discovered in the roadway about 1:45 a.m. and taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland.
