Washington Redskins cornerback and punt returner Richard Crawford was declared out for the season with a torn lateral collateral ligament and torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
He got hurt returning a punt.
Crawford was the main punt returner for the Redskins and averaged 19.5 yards per return as a rookie last season.
He was drafted in the seventh round last year out of Southern Methodist.
Chris Thompson is among the candidates to replace him and had 48 yards on three returns this weekend.
