    Report: Apple testing 4G iPhone

    Rumors of a 4G iPhone 5 have been repeatedly shot down, but apparently Apple isn’t giving up on LTE. According to Boy Genius Report, Apple and its carriers are testing 4G-capable iPhones. A copy of an internal Apple carrier document detailing iOS test builds supposedly reveals LTE-enabled devices.

    This doesn’t mean the next iOS release will include 4G connectivity, however. But it’s encouraging that Apple likely intends to bring LTE devices to the market. Apple made its users exercise patience when 3G was first being implemented in consumer handsets, waiting about a year after the technology was being widely used before introducing a 3G iPhone. 4G devices are becoming increasingly prevalent, and it would be just like the company to take its sweet time bringing an LTE-iPhone to the plate.

    It’s good news for 4G iPhone hopefuls – as long as they don’t pin their hopes on a 4G iPhone 5. We’ve heard an LTE-enabled iPhone is approximately a year out, and concerns like battery life and a rumored shortage of LTE Qualcomm chips just makes the wait seem more likely. Apple has claimed it’s satisfied with its iPhones 3G performance, and comments like this make us feel as if it’s planning on investing in other mobile technologies sooner. It’s just a hunch, but functions like NFC technology or introducing the iPhone to more networks seem like a greater possibility. Still, somewhere out there, Apple is testing a 4G iPhone, so it’s only a matter of time.

      My phone has a wire sticking out of it that goes into the wall. Works pretty well. Cheap, too. I like it because when I go outside I can't hear the phone ring.

        yep . you'll have to wait a couple of more months for that one. But it will be a big improvement over the newest improvement. I'll wait for iPhone9, that one will be REALLY cool.

      I don't think they will do 4g just yet.i just ordered the iphone 4.should come tomorrow. i hope i am not kicking myself when the 5 comes out. probably not though.The 5 is gonna need a little time on the market before i go for it anyway. and by that time, something even cooler will come out.lol.so the iphone 4 it is.

      Current 4G Phones are not truly full 4G phones. As one of the problems, there is no true standard voice platform yet on 4G. Basically the first 4G devices were Data cards. The 4G phones that did come out already are actually dual technology phones: Voice on 3G, data on 4G.
      I do not know how a true 4G phone will work, but I assume they still have to standardize on a VOIP platform, as 4G is all IP, a true internet device. It doesn't define the applications (Voice, chat, etc). As a matter of fact ... I am not even sure if we will ever be able to use a Verizon phone on a AT&T Network, even though both are moving to LTE.

      This article is plain stupid. Of course, Apple, along with everyone else, is either testing or producing 4G phones. The truth is Apple will do what they normally do. They will release technology that is 1-2 years behind the competition. Then they will be given credit for doing it first even though they did it last.
