Report: Google will launch a Wi-Fi router that doesn’t suck next month
According to a new report from Android Police, Google is preparing to launch a new router carrying the name Google Wifi on October 4th alongside the new Pixel smartphones, Google Home and the 4K-capable Chromecast Ultra.

Two sources say that the Wi-Fi router will cost $129 and will have "smart" features to differentiate it from the competition, such as enhanced range and the ability to link multiple access points to create a single massive network.
If Google Wifi really can reach significantly further than a standard router and can also link to other routers to expand the network, it could easily become a must-buy for homeowners and businesses alike. In other words, if you were thinking of picking up an OnHub (pictured above), maybe wait a few weeks.
Android Police wasn't able to obtain any details about how the device might actually work, or what its specifications will be, but sources claim that the router itself "will essentially be like a little white Amazon Echo Dot." Presumably this means that the router will be smaller than the Nighthawks of the world.
As for Android Police's confidence level, they rate this one at a 9 out of 10. In other words, they'd pretty much stake their reputation on the fact that we'll see a Google Wifi router in early October. The only question is whether or not the multiple network mesh feature will be available at launch.
