Report: New tax credit could aid thousands in 2014
Report predicts more than 160,000 Idahoans may qualify for health insurance tax credit in 2014
BOISE, Idaho (AP) -- A new report by a consumer group predicts more than 160,000 Idahoans will eligible next year for tax credits to help pay for health insurance.
The report released Thursday by Families USA focuses on the tax credit created in the Affordable Care Act for people with incomes within 400 percent of the poverty line. Those unable to buy affordable coverage through work are among those eligible for the credits.
The report finds that a little more than half the people getting the tax credits will fall within the 200-to-400 percent of poverty level range. That translates to a single person earning $47,100 or a family of four bringing home $94,200.
The tax credit will be available starting in January and apply to plans purchased through health exchanges.
