Rescue Dog With Different Coloured Eyes Struggles To Find New Owners

A special dog is hoping to find a new home after being rejected by hundreds of potential owners - just because he has different coloured eyes.

Mickey, a five-year-old Lurcher, has been in the Dog Trust’s rehoming centre in West London for over six months.

But his time at the home has seen his furry friends depart with new families - while Mickey is left wondering when his day will come.

Now, it’s believed by staff that Mickey’s glassy blue eye might be the reason why he’s constantly overlooked by potential owners.

He has a clean bill of health, but was born with one blue eye - due to less pigment, and one brown eye.

The condition is known as Heterochromia in humans and it doesn’t affect Mickey’s sight.

The team at Dogs Trust Harefield, London, are now hoping that a new owner will give Mickey the loving home he deserves.

Richard Moore, Rehoming Centre Manager at Dogs Trust Harefield said: ‘Mickey is a fun- loving, cheeky and affectionate character with a fantastic personality and we are baffled as to why so many people have overlooked him since he has been with us.

‘Sadly we find some people will overlook dogs with the slightest quirks so we hope a new owner will see beyond his unusual eyes and offer him a happy home.

‘He is a sociable boy who would love to live with another dog and can live with children over 12.

‘We think Mickey’s beautiful blue eye is really striking - he is a dog in a million and we really hope he catches the eye of a loving new owner soon.’

Don’t worry Mickey, every dog has their day - eventually.
