    Rescued US aid worker says she's thankful

    GOODE, Va. (AP) — An American aid worker rescued by Navy SEALs in Somalia last month says she's thankful for the support she's received.

    Thirty-two-year-old Jessica Buchanan was rescued last month along with a 60-year-old Danish man. The two were working with a demining unit when gunmen kidnapped them in October.

    In a statement issued from her hometown of Goode, Va., Buchanan says she's overwhelmed and grateful for the encouragement she and her family have received from around the world.

    The U.S. government said the raid was prompted by Buchanan's deteriorating health. In the statement, Buchanan asked for privacy as she focuses on everyday life and healing.

    She thanked President Barack Obama and those who planned and orchestrated her rescue.

      first off she was not a US aide worker, she was an aide worker from the US. Second the hell with being greatfull coff up the money that it cost the US to go get her dumb but.

        why do you think they are political or is that just the worst insult you could come up with? I think anyone that gets into troube that they could have avoided should be billed for the rescue. She was not sent there by the US gov so they should bill her for the rescue.

      None of us can imagine what that woman suffered 24/7 from her captors. I hope she gets the therapy she needs to keep from suicide and the drugs needed to help slow the advance of all the diseases the men must have given her. Just terrible. Look up what they do to women prisoners/captives there. It'll make you sick.
