Retail gasoline prices remain steady across Texas

AAA Texas reports retail gasoline prices remain steady across the state

IRVING, Texas (AP) -- Retail gasoline prices across Texas remain steady at $3.12 a gallon as the busy holiday travel season has concluded.

While there have been fluctuations, the average statewide unleaded price reported Thursday by AAA Texas is the same as nearly two weeks ago. The latest price is 6 cents less than last year.

The national average stands at $3.31.

Of the major metropolitan areas surveyed in Texas, drivers in the Dallas-Fort Worth area are paying the most at $3.16 and drivers in Amarillo are paying the least at $2.96.

Recent refinery problems had pushed prices higher but states have begun to see declines as more gas now is being produced. Also, AAA Texas says demand for fuel has dropped with the conclusion of the holiday travel season.
