    Retired Justice Stevens: No delay on health care

    WASHINGTON (AP) — Retired Justice John Paul Stevens says the Supreme Court should promptly settle the legal debate over the health care overhaul and not push the case back beyond the 2012 presidential election.

    Stevens says in an Associated Press interview that the election makes it more important for the court to rule sooner rather than later. He says voters will be better informed "if they know the answer" to the question of whether the law is constitutional.

    The 91-year-old Stevens retired from the court last year. He says his former colleagues would not be affected by the potential impact of their decision on the re-election chances of President Barack Obama.

    One federal appeals court has struck down a key portion of the law, while another has upheld it.

      This is our take:
      Over the 250 year history of the Nations Supreme Court, we have seen racism explode in her decesions from time to time. This time, it is ripe again for the Court to STICK it to the POOR. It is a RACIST majority Court. We know that. Here is the light @ the end of the road: ALL RACIST or moost of the Court's RACIST decisions have eventually CORRECTED. Hello? And, this racist decision that is about to be made WILL be corrected too.

      Justice Stevens is retired and doesn't have any clout on the Supreme Court. He can say whatever he wants, because his opinions don't carry any weight.

      Stevens is off the court and shouldn't be making such statements. When he voted (with the loony left minority on the Supreme Court) to approve a city's refusal to promote white men to firefighter positions, and also voted (again with the minority) to take guns away from law-abiding Americans, he showed how radical and out of touch he is with individual rights in this country and the fundamentals of our Constitution.

      The precedent Stevens cites requires a leap of unimaginable distances to equate the two laws. If we don't change our courts they are hell bent on changing us and that which made this country great, The US Constitution.

      The government cannot force a citizen to buy anything. The ObamaCare law is un Constitutional. Case closed. It's a FREEDOM issue.

      Only a political oriented Sotomayer or Kagan who owes Obama would rule in favor of ObamaCare. They should be recused.

      The other more important question is whether Obama has a legal right under the Constitution to be in the White House, making the two appointments above illegitimate.

        You don't have to have car insurance because you don't have to have a car. That is your choice. Car insurance protects other drivers and others property. Health insurance is about you, not someone else. That is the worst comparison ever made. The two are not anywhere close.
