Reuters: Retina iPad mini might not launch until 2014
Apple’s second-generation iPad mini was widely expected to launch later this month alongside a new completely redesigned full-size iPad, but a new report suggests the smaller tablet may be delayed. Reuters on Wednesday reported that Apple will “be unable to widely roll out a new version of the iPad Mini with a high-resolution ‘retina’ display this month.” The news organization said Apple’s manufacturing partners have only just begun to mass produce Apple’s new 8-inch Retina displays for the new iPad mini, so the device might only launch in limited quantities this year. Reuters also suggested that the Retina iPad mini might not launch this year at all, and may instead debut in 2014. Apple’s full-size iPad is still expected to be refreshed sometime in October with a brand new design similar to that of the iPad mini.
