    Revere Security Chief Cryptographer Whitfield Diffie Inducted Into National Inventors Hall of Fame

    Dr. Whitfield Diffie, considered the “father of public key encryption,” will be inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame on May 4 in Washington D.C. Diffie, who serves as chief cryptographer of Revere Security (http://reveresecurity.com), in 1976 developed public key cryptography (PKC), a method for securing electronic communication that is now considered vital to security on the Internet and to e-commerce.

    “Whit’s contributions to digital security and the world of e-commerce are unmatched and are the reason why we brought him onto the Revere team,” said Rick Stephenson, president of Revere Security. “This honor is well deserved.”

    In 2010, Dr. Diffie was awarded a lifetime achievement award at the RSA Conference in San Francisco for his contributions to the field of cryptography, public policy and information security and was honored by IEEE, the world’s largest professional association advancing technology for humanity, with the Richard W. Hamming Medal.
