Edie Brickell makes it all seem so simple.

On "Look Out Now," the sophomore release of the band she fronts called The Gaddabouts, Brickell makes the listener feel so at ease listening to the double disc that it's like slipping into a pair of comfy slippers, kicking back in a recliner and just letting the stresses of life slip away.

Brickell gets plenty of help setting the laid-back vibe with fellow bandmates Steve Gadd, Pino Palladino and Andy Fairweather-Low. They establish a late-night jazz club feel that is a perfect fit with Brickell's smooth as silk vocals.

"Look Out Now" features 17 songs spread out over two discs. It's hard not to find yourself singing along, or at least tapping a toe, to Brickell's signature catchy tunes. She can turn a phrase as well as anyone, and with her sultry yet welcoming vocals, Brickell sounds like the girl next door just singing away on a sunny day.

CHECK OUT THIS TRACK: "Meat On Your Bones" starts the set off. It's a purely improvisational song that may not be the best of the bunch, but it sets the mood perfectly for what's to come.
