Today’s music stars are dipping their toes into fashion and beauty, and the industry is embracing them with open arms. Just hours after Rihanna debuted and live streamed her runway collection at 23 Wall Street, #FentyXPuma already boasts 9,000 Instagram photos. The collection launches just one day after Kanye West’s Yeezy Season 3 hit Madison Square Garden, but unlike Kanye’s minimalist show, Rihanna’s gothic-inspired athleisure collection was all about the beauty. She stuck to a monochrome palette of black and white, and hair and makeup looks followed suit. All of the models wore heavy matte black lipstick, either no eye makeup or white mascara and lids, intense contouring and highlighting, and the occasional smudge of black or white war paint on the cheeks.

Models sported slicked back, piecey hair in true sportswear fashion. But the post-gym style was given an icy edge with thick white paint combed into the roots, resembling hair bleach in process. Notable models included Bella Hadid, Stella Maxwell, Maria Borges, Taylor Hill, Balmain model Dudley O’Shaughnessy, and closing model Gigi Hadid.

Gigi’s final look stunned front row viewers like Anna Wintour, Jeremy Scott, Naomi Campbell, and Rihanna’s flame Travis Scott. Her oversized sweatshirt, garter-style jewelry, and overemphasized bone structure was striking paired with her high-contrast hair and makeup. The look was a serious change from Hadid’s normal sunny blonde locks, and the crowd approves.
