Rocky tells Adrian he fights, "Because I can't sing or dance," in the 1976 Oscar-winning movie - but that will change in the planned upcoming musical version of the iconic film.
According to The New York Times, the "Rocky" musical -- which has been in the works for eight years - is moving ahead.
Producers said they held a reading of the musical in April and hope to open in Germany in 2012, before eventually moving to Broadway in spring 2013.
Show producer Thomas Meehan told The NY Times that Sylvester Stallone - star and screenwriter of the movie - is on board as an artistic partner and producer, but will not be part of the potential cast.
Meehan described the show as having a small orchestra, a cast of five principals and added that the story will closely follow the original movie.
"All I can say is that it's a glorious score, telling an intimate relationship story. I think people will be really surprised," the producer told The NY Times.
In December 2007, Stallone chatted with Access Hollywood about the possible musical during its creative infancy.
"After 'Rocky Balboa' succeeded, it gave it a breath of fresh air and now it is all coming together and they are going to make a fantastic musical," the actor said at the time. "Isn't that incredible? 'Rocky' on Broadway."
