Roger Clemens Steroid Trial Set to Begin

Pitching great Roger Clemens is back in court on Monday on perjury charges, 10 months after the federal prosecutors failed to get a conviction, reports the Associated Press. Clemens supposedly lied to Congress about taking performance-enhancing drugs.

Last July's embarrassing mistrial came after prosecutors showed the jury evidence that had previously been deemed inadmissible, two days after the trial began. Clemens will face five opposing lawyers this time around, in a trial that is expected to last four to six weeks.

One of Clemens' former trainers, Brian McNamee, told a House committee four years ago that he injected the seven-time Cy Young Award winner with human growth hormones and steroids on several occasions. Clemens had repeatedly denied the charges, including on Capitol Hill.
