Roku unveils a brand new, super cheap media player for Black Friday

If you’re in the market for great deals over the holiday season, this week must be the most exciting in recent memory. We’ve seen daily deals from Walmart, huge discounts on HDTVs and a Best Buy ad that stretches 37 pages long, but things aren’t likely to slow down as we inch closer and closer to Black Friday 2015 in a couple of weeks.

On Wednesday, Roku joined in on the fun by announcing a brand new media player called the Roku SE.

The Roku SE carries a suggested retail price of $49.99, but the company is planning to slash the price to $25 for Black Friday. Additionally, Roku says that promotions for its other streaming players might be available as well.

According to the press release, the Roku SE will feature the company’s latest operating system, 1080p streaming, HDMI and analog outputs and is compatible with the Roku Mobile App on Android and iOS.

It’s been just weeks since Roku unveiled the $129 4K-capable Roku 4, but with Google’s Chromecast dominating the lower end of the market and Apple TV filling up wish lists on the higher end, it makes sense that Roku would want to give budget-minded consumers something else to consider when filling stockings this holiday season.
