Romania confirms bird flu in dead pelicans: report

BUCHAREST (Reuters) - More than 100 dead pelicans in Romania's Danube Delta were found to be infected with H5N1 bird flu virus, Romanian authorities were quoted as saying on Friday by state news agency Agerpres. Bulgaria, Romania's southern neighbor also said it discovered the strain in two dead pelicans near the border. Romanian officials imposed a 10 km (6 miles) monitoring zone around the outbreak.
