Atlanta is a city known for having some of the best fine dining establishments in the country. Whether your taste buds call for authentic Italian dishes or fresh seafood, Atlanta is a hot spot for the food connoisseur. While finding a good grub spot may be easy for anyone, finding the most romantic spots for a night out with that special someone can sometimes be challenging. Let me and my 20-plus years of experience at some of the coziest spots in Atlanta be your guide to some of the most romantic dining spots around the city.
8725 Roswell Road, Atlanta
One of the key points to a romantic location is ambience. It's kind of hard to get that when you're in a 500-seat madhouse. This isn't the case at Circle Sushi. This isn't the largest restaurant in Atlanta, and its small size is what makes it special and one of Atlanta's best-kept secrets. Further, Circle Sushi was a winner of Atlanta's Best Sushi Bar in 2012, so your meal is bound to be great. At about $20 a plate, Circle Sushi is certain to leave you with a few dollars in your pocket to get in a few more romantic activities.
4505 Ashford Dunwoody Road, Atlanta
Not only is McKendrick's one of Atlanta's premier steak restaurants, it is also one of my preferred date spots. McKendrick's has one of the finest wine selections in North Atlanta, and the staff knows how to make your dining experience special. The food is second to none. Of course, it being a premier steak house means that you'd better call for reservations ahead of time. While you should expect to spend about $75 a person (including a glass of wine), the food and experience is well worth the price.
275 Baker St. NW, Atlanta
I normally try to stay away from chain restaurants when trying to make a romantic impression, but Legal Sea Foods in downtown Atlanta is definitely an exception to that rule. The spacious setup gives you a bit of distance from other diners, so you won't be yelling over the sounds of the next table. For those who love the sights and feel of a downtown metropolis, the views that you get from dining at a window seat will leave you fulfilled before you've even ordered. The seafood here is so good that it should probably be called "Illegal Sea Foods," because plates this good have to be criminal. At about $50 a plate, Legal Sea Foods won't break the bank but should wow a date.
6690 Roswell Road, Atlanta
I'm an Italian food fan, and anytime I can combine a romantic evening with a great pasta dish, it's a win-win situation. Enter Aldo's Italian Restaurant, which has it all for an impressive romantic date. There are private rooms, great wine, and some of the best Italian dishes in Atlanta. Aldo's has a great seating selection either inside or on the patio. At about $35 a person, this is a great spot for a memorable evening.
Ray's on the River, Ray's on the Creek, and Ray's in the City are some of the most well-known spots in Atlanta. I've been to all three spots, and all three have excellent cuisine. At about $50 per person, Ray's is never a strain on the wallet, and you'll get four gold stars for choosing any of the three.
The above are my choices for romantic dining around Atlanta. What spots can you add as recommendations to local couples?
