Romney Releases Another Ad Touting Bipartisanship

The Romney campaign released a new ad on Sunday, touting the Republican nominee’s bipartisan record as the governor of Massachusetts.

The 30-second spot, called “Find a Way,” criticizes President Obama for saying in a recent interview that Washington could not be changed from the inside. It also cites some of Romney's budgetary accomplishments in the Bay State.

“He's says he's only had 4 years. That's all Mitt Romney needed,” the ad says. “He turned Massachusetts around, cut unemployment, turned the deficit he inherited into a rainy day fund—all with an 85 percent Democratic legislature.”

The ad concludes, “Some can't live up to their promises. Others find a way.”

In recent weeks, Romney has attempted to come across as a more moderate candidate who worked across the aisle as governor—a major focal point in the presidential debates. On Friday, the Romney campaign released another ad on bipartisanship.

The Obama campaign has lambasted Romney for changing his positions. At a rally on Friday, Obama jokingly called it “Romnesia.” In response to the ad, Obama campaign spokeswoman Lis Smith said Romney would make Washington worse.

“If his latest ad is any indication, Mitt Romney’s Romnesia is only getting worse," she said in a statement. "But he is right on one point—he only needed four years as governor of Massachusetts. That’s because in just one term, Romney drove the state down to 47th out of 50th in job creation, increased per capita debt to the largest in the nation, left his successor a $1 billion deficit, and pushed through a tax cut that overwhelmingly benefited 278 of the wealthiest residents while raising taxes and fees on everyone else. And he did all of this while refusing to work across the aisle. Mitt Romney wouldn’t make Washington better—he’d make it worse.”
