    Romney stock trades clash with divestment pledge

    WASHINGTON (AP) — Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney promised in 2007 that a trust overseeing his financial portfolio would shed any investments that conflicted with GOP stances.

    But a review of Romney's tax records by The Associated Press shows that Romney's family trusts kept some of those stocks and repeatedly bought new investments in similar holdings as recently as 2010.

    Recently disclosed tax returns for three family trust funds for Romney, his wife, Ann, and their adult children show scores of trades in such investments, worth more than $3 million when the holdings were sold in 2010.

    A Romney campaign spokeswoman says the former Massachusetts governor has no control over the investments made by his blind trust but the trustee has tried to manage the trades in line with the candidate's positions.

Romney's publicly expressed positions."Then he shouldn't have made a promise to the American people and his party that he KNEW he couldn't keep!! Politics as usual....blind trust is just a smoke screen for "I have no control over my investments"...#$%$!

        Well said Stepany, If he can't convay an idea to the guy taking care of his money what will he do when he has a staff of poeple? Romney will say "I have no control over my staff"

        But MikeGolf, let me ask you this....is he going to make numerous mistakes when he signs bills or legislature that affect you and I, as you claim that he may have done in this situation? Or my favorite was his statement of "I'm not concerned about the very poor"...and then "Oh I misspoke"....listen I know these guys are under tremendous stress and are keeping unbelievable schedules, but if you are trying to show the American people that you are the right guy for the job you really need to show that you are transparent, HONEST, and in control of your OWN day to day affairs before we take you on in our affairs, both domestic and foreign.

      Romney also said earlier in the campaign he was very concerned about the poor, now he says he's not worried about them. He said we have to stop borrowing money we know we can't pay off. Yet the Bain Capital business model is just that. Buy a company, cut jobs rob pensions and make huge cuts, so it looks prosperous allowing them to take out loans against the company. After they receive the loan the business declares bankruptcy. Bain (Romney) walks away with millions, while the creditor is stuck with a loan that will never be paid back in full. Romney will do the same for America as President!

        Also had his cronies on wall street make the company seem like it was doing ok making stock prices go up, Bain would then sell the stocks at the high point, trash the company leaving the workers unemployed and the stock holders with a loss. Sounds to me like stock manipulation and insider trading.

      Face it. The only reason that Mitt Romney is "anti-abortion" is to get votes in the Republican Primary. It is all phony. When he was a candidate for governor in Massachusetts, where there are more liberal voters, he took a liberal position. He is not actually pro-abortion or anti-abortion. He just doesn't give a crap one way or the other. He is only pro-Romney being elected and getting attention. A rich kid who craves attention and is trying to buy office. Same as Sugar Cain was doing until the Republican voters discovered he had a pecker. Rich guys trying to buy office.

      Romney is good at passing the buck I have noticed. He told Gingrich his PAC did the tv ads, then turned and told him what was in them. Now he says his "blind trust" does all his investing.
