Don't mess with Big Bird, Mitt Romney. That's the message the Internet sent Wednesday night when the GOP presidential candidate confirmed that he "likes Big Bird," but would cut subsidies for PBS.

The zing had amateur Photoshoppers working in overdrive to defend the beloved Sesame Street character.
The comment also generated 17,000 tweets per minute for "Big Bird" and 10,000 tweets per minute for "PBS," according to @gov. Within minutes, parody Twitter accounts began popping up, including @FiredBigBird and @BigBirdRomney.
