Ron Paul 'A Little Bit Disappointed' After Maine

Presidential candidate Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, on Sunday waved off the suggestion that his narrow loss to Mitt Romney in Maine Saturday night was especially disappointing given his dogged efforts in the state. Paul attributed the loss to one of the counties canceling its caucus.

“You know, we were a little bit disappointed last night,” Paul said on CBS’ Face the Nation. “We did very well up there. But we're going to continue to do what we do and do the very best and keep accumulating delegates.”

Paul skipped last week’s Conservative Political Action Conference in D.C. – a show he frequently steals with adoring fans and straw poll victories – to campaign in Maine, though there were no delegates awarded in the Maine caucuses.

Asked if he really thought he could get the nomination or if he was simply competing to be a force at the convention, Paul was vague. “Sure, I think both,” he said. “We're there to win, do our best. Romney has been up and down. The others have been up and down. I haven't been down. I keep going up. I don't really go up and down.”

And, in the latest indication of what many suspect to be a non-aggression pact between Paul and Romney, Paul turned a question about Romney’s struggle to convince voters of his conservative credibility into a criticism of Romney’s rivals.

“Well, I don't know exactly why [Romney is singled out], because I think if it comes to [Newt Gingrich or Rick Santorum], they should suffer the same consequences,” Paul said. “Maybe it's the type of coverage and the image. But I don't think they have been vetted very well because I know them pretty well. Their records are far from being conservative.”

You know it #$%$ me off when people question those questioning the results of a caucus or primary- citizens say "suck it up" or "face it, you lost". That is crap, especially considering what happened with Iowa. The fix is in folks and when Paul wins Maine next week because of the supposed MONSTER light dusting of snow closing many election places forcing them to vote later on which happened to be in Paul precincts is unethical and blatant voter tampering. They did not want Ron Paul to have any momentum and by declaring Romney the victor for the time being they as in the republican party can squash any momentum for Paul.Like Ron Paul or not at least acknowledge how wrong this is! This is not democratic or hardly American.. These are shady tactics to buy the race. I'm not a conspiracy theorist and have nothing to gain in this race, well except for Liberty, yet I am appauled at how this entire campaign throughout the voting season has gone. The media and Ron Paul's own party have been blatant manipulators and it is WRONG. This is the problem with big goverment and the status quo. All Americans should take a look and realize the crooked politcal games being played and affecting us all economically and socially. The parties are a joke as is Washinton D.C. and corporate media(all agenda hogs)!!!I'm sure Paul detractors will say what they will in regards to Maine and these shady tactics being acceptable or that the Paulbots are perpetrating this. No, no it is happening and you should be very upset and scared.. It could be your candidate next time. It is not right and no matter who you may be alligned politically this should anger you for principal!!

      Wannabee a Pauler, shot caller!!
All his delegates... give him the power!!
      ...Paulers, spread the word tonight.
Stop the darkness help me spread the light.

Obama: "it's my way.. or you can hit the hi way'.
But theres gotta be a better way.. a better way, a better way, yeah..

Ron Paul's message of liberty will be around long after Ron Paul is no longer around. The young generation has been permanently influenced by this message. I think the future is bright. We will not be Greece.
    • Snafu B  •  3 mths ago
This was rigged. The FOX controlled GOP lobbyists sell outs will do anything to remove Paul from the field. We haven't seen anything yet. Stay tuned.

Notice how vulgar & pointless the ANTI PAUL HATERS are? Question is this? If Ron Paul has no chance & cannot win, WHY DO THEY POST CONSTANTLY trying to defame him? What is causing all these ANTI PAUL vulgarities? They say he is a joke & cannot win. SO WHY? Just asking?
      • Keva 3 mths ago
No need to state the obvious.....Register...Vote for Ron Paul....(@_@)

Smart voters, both partys, have known for decades, go vote in PRIMARIES. If you must re-register to cast a ballot its your RIGHT TO DO THAT. Go to the BOARD OF ELECTIONS & ask for the form. It takes 5 minutes. With 90% yet to go DON'T YOU want your choice to be counted?
      • Ilona 3 mths ago
people do not realize the primaries are MORE important than the general elections because there are sometimes "good" candidates on the republican AND the democrat side, and the reason why we usually end up with "lesser evil choices" candidates in the general election is because people do not pay attention to things enough or vote in the primaries, and so the big money pushes though THEIR chosen candidates.

This article is off base. The reason why I say that, is because Ron Paul might still win Maine. Only 89% of the precincts are reporting, and he is only 190 votes behind Romney. That could tie it up for Paul, if he holds the majority of voters in Washington County. However, we will not know who the winner is until this Saturday, when Washington County gets to cast their ballots. Declaring a winner at this point is voter disenfranchisement.

This is the United States of America, the country that I was raised and taught when I was a little kid that "every vote counts". People should be outraged that after Iowa, Nevada, and now Maine, that they are blatantly stealing votes from Ron Paul's campaign. That is at least two states that they have been stolen from him, and possibly more, since no one knows what may have happened if he had won Iowa in that first primary. (The Paul campaign is blaming Nevada on people not showing up, but that state's numbers look strange too) This should be front page news on every newspaper and media outlet in the country, but what do they do? Look the other way. Because the same people that want Obama/Romney/Santorum/Gingrich are the same people in control of the world's MSM. It is the most disgusting display of cheating I have ever seen and if they don't watch it, this thing could turn very ugly, very quick.

The tale about " every vote counts " isn't the only tale we were told.
      • CharlieChan 3 mths ago
I'd like for it to turn ugly real quick. I'm sick of the same #$%$ in office, over and over.
      • Keen Wolverine 3 mths ago
Perhaps you think there were stolen votes in a 'real vote' because the informal online polls have allowed people who are INELIGIBLE to vote to participate and the real primary does not? Just perhaps.

I am voting for Ron Paul because I will not teach my children that buying into deceit and corruption are American values. I will not sacrifice any more of my children's future rights for temporary solutions. Ron Paul stands for inalienable rights that have been taken from us by our own corrupt leaders. Our people fear our government because of it's power and control. This country was not founded on those ideals, and the sooner we start to break the habit of submission the sooner we can begin to restore our country to it's original beauty.

Bad blood between Newt and Paul go back a ways. Newt lined up with Bush to try to keep Paul from gaining current House seat....over a democrat that just changed his stripes. Newt totally flipped-flopped on that guy, back when he was in the House. Newt has no morality that I can detect.
    • WL  •  3 mths ago
There was one late county in Nevada that read thier votes live on National TV. Paul had almost twice as many votes as all the other candidates combined. How interesting that the only county that read their votes publicly was overwhelmingly Ron Paul, where as everyone else had him trailing a distant third. Cone on, wake up and smell the river.
    • grendal113  •  3 mths ago
why is it every state is having problems counting votes......the more problems they have the larger the romney win.
    • Daniel  •  3 mths ago
We all know that Ron Paul does NOT vacillate, but delivers or is it simply that some of you don't know how to research and read? Ron Paul 2012.
    • Eric  •  3 mths ago
Well, that settles it . If a nutball like Dan is not voting for Paul then I #$%$ sure want to. Thanks Dan you just made up my mind for me. I will vote Paul because i do not want to be anything like you
    • Eric  •  3 mths ago
It looks like Dan forgot to take his evening meds. Dan you are the lunatic, look at what you are writing. It is irrational, non factual, moronic, twisted and frankly you strike me as the conspiracy theorist. Paul does not and never has believed in the conspiracies , i can post his words time and time again that prove what I say
    • Chris  •  Irvine, California  •  3 mths ago
Wonder how much Dan is gettin paid. A nickel per post? And an extra cent per thumb as an incentive so you'll write extra nasty remarks? The pride you must feel.
    • Ron Paul or Bust!  •  Tel Aviv, Israel  •  3 mths ago
Oy Vey!!! We can not let Ron Paul get elected, no matter what!!!! He will cut off all foreign aid (our welfare checks)!!!! He will not give us the backing of a trillion dollar a year military!!!! He will not send your children to die and be maimed, so we can keep the land we stole in 1967. We can not let this happen!!!!! We must spend many millions of dollars, and flood all articles with anti Ron Paul propaganda. Otherwise, we will have to rig the election again, like 2000!!!!! All of our "Israel Megaphone" propaganda teams keep up the work here!!! Keep up the propaganda campaign!!! Netanyahu, will give you medals!!!!

dan it has been over 1 hour and you haven't posted anything about loony ronny. Who has nothing better to do? Who probably needs to get off welfare and stop sucking off the tit of the working class? There will always be people like you who follow like sheep and think that our country would be better served by career politicians who end up sticking it to us time and time again. They do not want Mr. Paul to be president because their way of life will forever be altered. He is the only candidate that will follow through with what he says. Look at his voting record / now please write another loony ronny comment, they are not getting old and I love to read them.
