For Ron Paul, Media Attention Was Just Too Much

    Evan Vucci/AP Photo

CONCORD, N.H. - Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul is learning what it's like to be a top tier contender.

Flanked by two dozen members of the national and local press corps, Ron and his wife Carol were forced to abandon a leisurely breakfast at a New Hampshire diner when the media circus became too much for the small mom and pop establishment to handle.

Paul and his wife Carol twisted and turned through the tight Windmill Family Restaurant in Concord, shaking hands and answering voter's questions.

At one point, an elderly woman stopped Paul and politely asked his position on gay marriage, "I understand that you are for gay marriage," said the woman.

"I'm for government staying out of marriage," said Paul adding, "the government screws it all up."

As the woman retorted, "but it's unnatural," the cameramen pressed in, some jumping in nearby booths, pressing against confused diners enjoying their breakfast.

"The important thing is how they live and what examples they set," said Paul trying to dodge the boom mics hovering overhead.

Blocked by media swarm, Paul's security team was forced to clear a path for the U.S. Congressman from Texas to sit down at a nearby table.

However it was soon evident that the media corps wasn't going away and Paul, sitting alone at a large table as his security detail debated what to do, eventually abandoned his breakfast.

Getting into his car, Paul was asked for his prediction at tonight's debate.

Shaking his head and clearly annoyed by the whole experience, Paul mumbled, "nothing special."

Oh weird. I watched CBS this morning do a long bit on the candidates, and did not mention Ron Paul ONCE. He's polling second in the state. They talked about BACHMANN. She's dropped out already!

Pretty deceptive headline, don't you think?
It wasn't 'too much' for RON PAUL.
It was 'too much' for the diner he was eating in.
      Way to go ABC.

For Christs sake let the man enjoy breakfast with his wife and ask him questions later. I'm sure he would be willing to answer them. Knowing Paul. You prestitutes have spent the last month smearing the good Doctor and now screw up his breakfast.

Knowing Dr. Paul, he was aggravated because he was there to talk to, hear from and share a breakfast with the voters in the restaurant. Likely, the media purposely barged in and rudely started overpowering the people so he couldn't interact with them. They haven't cared what he had to say before this one whit. I can't think of any other reason they would start now. I don't even want to hear because he's a 'real' candidate now...he always has been. Oh, that liberal American Press Corps...such class.

Ron Paul wants the wisdom of the U.S. Constitution to define the role of government. Our country has been the greatest country on Earth and it has been the arrogance of elected leaders who "think" they know better, that has screwed it up.

He's not against defending this country; he's against our meddling in the affairs of other sovereign countries. He's not pro-abortion or pro-life; he thinks it's no business of the government.

He's not pro-drugs; he knows prohibition has never worked and legalizing drugs won't increase illicit drug use; it will eliminate the crime associated with it. He's not anti-immigration; he just thinks it should be done legally.

He's not pro-gay or anti-gay; he thinks it's none of the government's business.

He's not pro-gun; he believes the founding fathers included the 2nd Amendment for a sound reason; they knew the only way people could defend themselves against an oppresive and tyrannical government (as well as defend their homes and families) because they (the founding fathers) had to do just that; defend themselves from the most oppressive government of their time (the British Empire's monarchy).

Romney, Perry, Santorum, Gingrich, and Obama are rubber stampers of a Congress gone astray. If not already, these candidates will be pawns of Big Banks, the FED, Big Corporations, Big Unions, and they lobbyists who represent them.

Ron Paul should be, to anyone remotely attuned to the lost direction of this country, not just a clear choice; he should be the only choice.

The "wisdom of the Constitution" allows "redress of grievances" via lobbying. It's a fatal flaw which is leading to the ruin of the USA.
      • Michael 4 mths ago
You're right, Get Real. The Constitution does allow for the "redress of grievances" via lobbying. It always has. It has only become a really big problem since our politicians decided to completely sell us out and flush our future down the drain for those lobbyists' dollars. The lobbyists can redress their grievances all they want, but it is ultimately up to our elected officials to do the right thing. The REAL problem here is that the mindless masses in this country keep elected the wrong people who happily bend over to the corporate elite. Ron Paul 2012!!!
      • Michael 4 mths ago
Besides, Get Real, there is also a lot of positive changes that come about through the ability to redress our grievances. You can't just focus on the negative side in order to discredit the very document that made this the greatest country on Earth in the first place.

"I understand that you are for gay marriage?"

Seriously? I'm amazed how how stupid people are nowadays. Our economy is sinking, our unemployment rate is sky high, we're in two wars at risk of a third with Iran (if we keep electing these dumb politicians) and she's freaking out about gay marriage?!!? Dude, I'm a GOP Republican, and that's the LAST thing on my mind right now. It's people like this that make the GOP look so stupid. Ron Paul 2012!!

      Romney campaign contribuitor: Goldman Sachs
      Obama campaign contributor: Goldman Sachs

Ron Paul campain contributors: the American People
    • DaveS  •  Cocoa Beach, Florida  •  4 mths ago
      Romneys largest donor is Goldman-Sachs.
Ron Pauls largest donor is US Military active duty soldiers.

Vote Ron Paul. He is the only decent, honest, and intelligent politician running. He is also the ONLY candidate that has his campaign funded by donations from the American people. Romney and everyone else are bought and paid for by corporations. How can they be for the people? Romney also lies and flip flops more than a fish out of water. People that listen to the mainstream media are really missing out. Do your own research and use your own brain.
Ron Paul is the only logical choice.

How would you like the media bothering you while you were attempting to have breakfast....I can see how that would go down. Dr. Ron Paul is the last hope this country has at maintaining The US Constitution and Bill of Rights. For those of you who do not know what they are, look them up. If it wasn't for them, you would not be able to leave any comments on a public blog like this. Freedom is sweet, protect it......vote Ron Paul in 2012.

What I like most about Ron Paul is his consistency and his background. The only candidate not not to be involved with inside trading and stealing money from the American people.

Ron Paul 2012, I like how little publicity this man gets for being a true and geniune human being.

Our biggest problem in america is congress. Polls on congress approval rating are at 8%. Close your eyes and imagine what president Ron Paul would do to a bill with pork in it! He would go on tv and show the american people what the pork is and who put it in the bill. Congress would be running like cockroaches for the darkness. Congress is the reason we need an honest man like Dr Ron Paul in Washington!
    • Matt  •  4 mths ago
I would vote for Ron Paul if for no other reason than the fact that he sends lobbyists running away with their tails between their legs.
    • Hans J.  •  4 mths ago
He deserves some media attention, after he was so shamelessly ignored for a long time. Like him or not, he is a serious contender for the nomination.

The entire country is being flushed down the toilet by DC and Wall Street and STILL the PRIGGISH SHEEP care about NON-ISSUES like who is EFFING whom. How does gay marriage REALLY effect Y-O-U? REEEAAALLLYYYY?????????
