Ron Paul Storms Off CNN Set After Questioning Over Racist Newsletter

Ron Paul furrowed his eyebrows before storming off completely during a CNN interview addressing allegations that he made money and won fame with the help of a sometimes racist series of newsletters back in the 1990s. Paul is the same candidate that many have said has been ignored by the media  -- some would say, though, he's not -- but since he's been climbing in the polls and suddenly appears to be a real contender in the Republican primary race, the media's turned up the heat. CNN's Gloria Borger was just starting to grill Paul about the details of his involvement in the racist newsletters, when the candidate stonewalled her. "Why don't you go back and look at what I said yesterday on CNN and what I’ve said for 20-something years. 22 years ago?" Paul said right at the outset. "I didn't write them, I disavow them, that's it."

Borger, like a good journalist, pressed on for a few seconds before urging Paul to react to what people are saying about the two-decade old allegations. "These things are pretty incendiary," Borger said. "Because of people like you," Paul snapped back, just before he pulled of his microphone and headed for the door. "I appreciate your answering the questions, and you understand it's our job to ask them," the reporter said, almost apologetically as Paul was leaving.

Later, when talking about the incident on air, Situation Room host Wolf Blitzer suggested that Paul "got tired of talking about" the allegations. "He clearly thinks it's irrelevant," Borger told Blitzer. "It’s clearly a question he’d rather not be asked."

And you would actually believe the JewStream media?
      • Fluff 5 mths ago
Annihilate, and you are actually an anti-semitic racist.

He's 75, most older people don't storm anywhere.
    • rossp  •  Miami, Florida  •  5 mths ago
Not a favorite of mine but it did look like he answered her question...then she kept pressing. doesn't seem like he "stormed" out... only got tired of repeating himself.
      • Fluff 5 mths ago
The media, rightly so, counts on a vast majority of the readers to be too stupid or lazy to read this article closely and notice that fact.
      • Kevin 5 mths ago
A politician never gets tired of repeating themselves if it shines a good light on them.
      • B-MAN 5 mths ago
Kevin, I personally like relevant questions, like how can you make it better... He answered these same questions 15-20 times this week alone. I'm even tired of this question
    • jd  •  Southfield, Michigan  •  5 mths ago
he answered the question, she asked it again, he answered again, she asked it again, he got frustrated, so would I, so would anyone.
      • Heinrik Von Staarck 5 mths ago
Jd These so called "reporters are like the $1.95/hour A- holes . It's their job to make a mountain out of a mole hill. and not 1/2 the brains of the candidates !
      • gooddreams 5 mths ago
reporters are biased- they are told what their agenda should be by certain people who control the media. If you don't believe that read or watch foreign news and you'll learn more about what is going on in our own country.
      • Tea Party ! 5 mths ago
ABSOLUTELY - another lame liberal reporter - not reporting news, but trying to make news/highlights....
    • A Yahoo! User  •  Boston, Massachusetts  •  5 mths ago
This should say "Ron Paul gets irked by newsletter QUESTION". Not plural. She asked him the same question over and over and when it was clear she wasn't going to be satisfied with that answer he stopped responding to the question.
      • Chris 5 mths ago
CNN couldn't find their #$%$ with both hands
      • Susu82 5 mths ago
I understand how candidates can get frustrated because of the need to answer one type of question over and over again. They want to talk about the present issues that are important to the people at present. If this reported had any proof of his involvement, he should had put it forward. If not, he should have stopped the abusive questioning. Journalist try to control a press event sometimes and it is not always fair, when they continue to verbally beat a condidate into submission. I don't know much about Paul, but I do know how biased and unfair the press can be.

Susu82 Please research Dr. Paul. Watch his speeches and ads on you tube. He's really good!

How is this "storming off"? He was very polite----how does this writer have a job? You can get a job for yahoo calling that "Storming off"?
      • Casualcat 5 mths ago
When you announce the desire to be the leader of the free world. You do not walk away from a question.
The true test of his character would have been to stay and deal with it. It's only going to get more intense.

Must be your first Yahoo article. Yahoo IS hype, period!
      • Steve 5 mths ago
Casualcat..watch the #$%$ video. How many times does he have to answer the same question? Yes, he walked away from the question..after having answered it 6 dozen times already.

If that's the best dirt the media can get on this guy, he has my vote. Reporters are more concerned with a "gotcha" moment than they are with actual reporting.

Now we'll see the media, Right and Left, go from ignoring to trying to delegitimize RP. Even if I did not already support RP seeing that everyone is out to get him would make me take a second look. If all the crooks and propagandists don't like him he just might be the right guy.
    • Chris  •  5 mths ago
Gloria Borger is married to LANCE MORGAN. Lance is the chief communications and crisis strategist of POWELL TATE. Powell Tate is a D.C. firm that represents every part of the very same MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX that Ron Paul wants to reduce!

This is a total conflict of interest! Her husband's firm includes overseeing a coalition to support congressional funding to parts of the U.S. Military! All of these "journalists" seem to be profiting from these wars!

The media...what a joke they are. They should be sued for failing to report facts, skewing numbers and just plain lying to the american public.
    • brian  •  Baton Rouge, Louisiana  •  5 mths ago
Funny how Senator Byrd was never really grilled about starting a new chapter of the Ku Klux Klan and recruiting members back in his day. I'm not trying to start a debate about term limits, but he was re-elected over and over and served for over 55 years. Even as the history books are attempting to be re-written, his past is being downplayed and explained away. Anyone wonder why???

      And the smear campaign begins...
    • Reasonable  •  Boca Raton, Florida  •  5 mths ago
I believe Mr. Paul was very nice w/ the reporter. At the second time she would ask the same question I would ask her if she was deaf . I agree that reporters must ask tough questions, but, to ask three times in 3 minutes is a bit stupid.
    • Dutch  •  Muskegon, Michigan  •  5 mths ago
I don't see Mr. Paul "storming out" of the interview. I DO see him answering the question several times and finally, when it becomes apparent to him that the "reporter" wasn't going to move on, he decided to that he had wasted enough time and left. Much like the Cain issue, much ado about nothing!! Typical "news coverage" from the media. It's remarkable how totally clueless the media has become over the past 10 years or so. These folks live in their ivory towers in the big cities around the country and have no idea what the average American thinks of their "profession".
    • MikeS  •  St Louis, Missouri  •  5 mths ago
And the media's perception is totally out of touch with what really happened. How gullible do they think the American public really is?
    • CJ  •  Ramsey, New Jersey  •  5 mths ago
"An upset win"? According to whom? Of course he was annoyed with those questions- not only are those the only questions he's asked, but it's pertaining to something supposedly written, 20 years ago! God forbid any reputable media outlet discuss relevant topics like today's economy and limiting our civil rights. Ron Paul might actually have something intelligent to say. And the media hates that!

      RON PAUL 2012
    • Steve & Caroline Cebula  •  Baltimore, Maryland  •  5 mths ago
Seriously! That's all the dirt they can find about the man, some newsletter he didn't write went published under his name more than 20-something years ago. In the mean time (unlike his opponents) he has stayed consistant with his belief and everything he has ever claim. People, open your eyes, if that's all the dirt they can find on him, then y'all know you got a pretty good canditate in front of you!
    • Unshackledtruth  •  New York, New York  •  5 mths ago
This man is so squeaky clean and the media can't stand it, the media have to try and invent new ways of asking the same question over and over and over and over again, I mean what the hell he answered her question move on #$%$ and don't insult him or his intelligence. Hey look we all know the score about the media this should be expected but what they don't know is Ron Paul supporters will never buy into this stupid nonsense so it's a losing game for them.

It would be nice to live in a country that actually had an unbiased media.
    • Loren V  •  5 mths ago
How many times is she going to ask him the same question? He gave his answer, move on. If he wrote something or didn't write something is irrelevant. Irrelevant, based upon people have been known to change their mind and or position from 22+ years ago.

The problem here, is this whole news media is a farce. It is a witch hunt on the candidates. Seldom, if ever, have I heard the news media say, "that's a good idea, we should explore that!" A positive comment from the media? Are you kidding? We wonder why our country is struggling, read the yellow journalism or in many cases red journalism. Negative, negative, negative. Provide any solutions or recommendations? Never, never, never.
