Ron Perlman Joins Harry Potter Spin-Off Fantastic Beasts

‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ has just landed another cast member… adding screen legend Ron Perlman.

According to the The Hollywood Reporter, the 65-year-old American actor has signed up for the upcoming ‘Harry Potter’ spin-off.

“Ron Perlman has joined the cast of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Warner Bros’ fantasy set in the world of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter,” they revealed. “The movie is currently shooting in England with Eddie Redmayne starring as Newt Scamander.”

Ron Perlman is perhaps most famous as the star of Hellboy – a demonic being brought to Earth who fights off supernatural threats. And perhaps it’s rather fitting that Perlman’s role in ‘Fantastic Beasts’ is rumoured to be on the more magical side of things…

“Plot details were not revealed, but sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that Perlman will play a goblin.”

Perlman has also starred in the critically-acclaimed ‘Sons of Anarchy’ and leant his voice to the ‘Fallout’ videogame series as the game’s narrator.

‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ follows the adventures of Newt Scamander – the wizarding world’s most famous magizoologist. Studying magical creatures and writing about them in his book, he would later be read by Harry Potter as part of his Hogwarts studies.

Ron Perlman joins an already rather stellar cast, which recently added Jon Voight as well as British actress, Gemma Chan and ‘Selma’ star Carmen Ejogo. Eddie Redmayne stars in the leading role, joined by Katherine Waterston, Ezra Miller, Colin Farrell, Dan Fogler and Samantha Morton.

‘Harry Potter’ regular David Yates will be directing, based on a screenplay by J.K. Rowling.

‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ heads to cinemas on 18 November 2016.
