The Russian Emergencies Ministry said that the crash was caused by a Su-30 fighter jet that was "performing a training flight," Russian media quoted the ministry as saying. Allegedly, the aircraft crashed within the city, impacting a residential suburb. Fire and rescue units are working at the scene, the Russian government said, adding that both pilots of the crash perished, though there were allegedly no civilian injuries.

Photos and videos showing the fire and a column of smoke after the crash were shared online, as well as footage allegedly showing the moment of the crash.

Another Russian military jet crashed into a residential building in the Russian city of Yeysk, Krasnodar Krai, on Oct. 17, after which a fire broke out. As a result of the incident, 15 people died and 28 were injured. The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that one of the engines of the plane caught fire during takeoff.
