Ryan Reynolds Went Trick-or-Treating As Deadpool With His Own X-Men

If you’re going to dress up on Halloween as a character you’re already known for portraying, this is surely the way to do it.

We’re already well accustomed to the sight of Ryan Reynolds in costume as Deadpool, the motor-mouthed Marvel mutant anti-hero whose first solo movie is due in just over three months.

However, Reynolds opted to don that suit especially to go trick-or-treating in the company of a bunch of children dressed as the X-Men, in classic comic book form.

Never one to pass up the opportunity to throw a little shade, Reynolds shared the image on Twitter with the remark, “Dear Fox, stop changing the timelines. It’s confusing the audience. #xmenassemble #happyhalloween

Reports that local households were giving out chimichanga instead of candy have not been verified.

The long-awaited ‘Deadpool’ movie promises to be considerably more loyal to the comics than the version of the character Reynolds portrayed in the much-lamented ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine.’

It also kicks off what will be a busy year for 20th Century Fox’s own mini-Marvel universe, with ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ following in May 2016, and ‘Gambit’ scheduled for October (although given there are known to have been behind-the-scenes issues delaying the latter production, it seems likely it could be pushed back).

Following on from the 1970s-set ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past,’ ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ (in which Deadpool is not expected to appear) will take the action into the 1980s and see the reintroduction of two of the characters pictured above, Storm and Cyclops, along with other classic X-Men Jean Grey and Jubilee, as teenagers.

However, there is a certain irony in Reynolds posing in character with a bunch of pre-teens, as ‘Deadpool’ is set to break new ground as the first superhero movie of the decade to be rated R, meaning a 15 or 18 certificate is likely in the UK.

In other words - while the kids can go trick-or-treating with him, they best stay home when ‘Deadpool’ hits UK cinemas on 4 February 2016.
