Ryan: Romney Will Enact My Budget
House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan, R-Wis., said he expects Mitt Romney will enact his recently-released budget if the former Massachusetts becomes president.
Ryan released his budget last week, saying it would provide voters with a clear alternative to President Obama’s. On CBS’s Face the Nation, Ryan said he expects Romney will enact most elements of his budget, saying he was convinced Romney was a “fiscal conservative.”
“I’m not expecting everybody to enact every little piece of this,” Ryan said. “But, yes, he—and the other candidates running for president—have embraced these kinds of reforms because we know it’s the best way to save and strengthen the Medicare guarantee, save Medicaid.”
Obama senior adviser David Plouffe, appearing on Fox News Sunday, attacked Romney for his willingness to take up the Ryan budget.
“This is really the Romney-Ryan plan," he said. "It will be rubberstamped if Mitt Romney is elected president. It fails the test of balance, fairness and shared responsibility. It showers huge tax cuts on millionaires and billionaires, paid for by seniors and veterans.”
