Ryan Seacrest Reveals His Longest Relationship – and Not-so-Glamorous Red Carpet Debut

It's hard to imagine now, but there was a time when Ryan Seacrest wasn't the king of the red carpet. The star is celebrating 10 years of working the carpet for E! – and PEOPLE has an exclusive look at a retrospective showing off some of his best moments (and looks!).

"My first red carpet ever was at the Golden Globes. I was put on a platform above the lobby of the hotel," he says in the clip. "I thought, 'What can I cover from here!?' Since then I've moved down to the carpet."

The clip also shows Seacrest's chemistry with E! personality Giuliana Rancic, whom he told on their tenth Golden Globes red carpet together, "This is my first experience with a relationship that has gone this long."

The video goes behind the scenes of his preshow preparation: "I try to prepare a few questions, or know three or four things about everyone that's going to be there. I actually make flashcards," says Seacrest, 40.



But there will always be moments you can't prepare for, such as when Sacha Baron Cohen (as The Dictator) spilled ashes on him in 2012 or Gary Busey interrupted the 2008 telecast, "Ryan Seacrest! I've been looking for you for years!"

How did that make Seacrest feel?

"Frightened wouldn't be the right word, but it'd be close to it," he admits.
