BERLIN (AFP) – US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Monday that Afghan President Hamid Karzai must "root out corruption".
She said any commitment by the United States and Germany to stabilise Afghanistan "has to be met by an even greater commitment" of the new Karzai government "to begin the effort to root out corruption."
Clinton was in Berlin to join world leaders to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. She was speaking after talks with German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle.
