VATICAN CITY (AFP) – The Vatican on Monday promulgated new rules under which Anglicans -- many of whom are unhappy with the Church of England's moves to embrace female and homosexual clergy -- can join the Catholic fold.

Described as a response to "many requests" from Anglicans around the world, the provision will allow groups of Anglicans to convert to Catholicism "while preserving elements of the distinctive Anglican spiritual and liturgical patrimony," the Vatican said in a communique.
