The Nation's Weather

By WEATHER UNDERGROUND, For The Associated Press Sun May 11, 4:30 AM ET

Thunderstorms and heavy rain were forecast Sunday for the Upper Mississippi Valley and Ohio Valley as strong low pressure systems move through the region.

Severe storms were possible east of the Appalachians and along the Southeast coast. A cold front moving across Florida was expected to produce areas of showers and thunderstorms.

In the West, a trough of low pressure was expected to slide into the Northwest and generate rain and high elevation snow from the Cascades through the Intermountain West.

Dry weather was forecast for the nation's midsection.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Saturday ranged from a low of 15 degrees at Stanley, Idaho, to a high of 107 degrees at Del Rio, Texas.
