SAYREVILLE, N.J. – Police say Seton Hall University basketball player Keon Lawrence has been charged with driving while intoxicated and driving with a suspended license.
Sgt. Stephen Jones says the 22-year-old Lawrence was drunk early Monday when he drove the wrong way on the Garden State Parkway near Sayreville, N.J., and hit another vehicle.
Lawrence was treated for severe facial cuts, and the driver of the other car suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Officials at Seton Hall haven't decided yet whether Lawrence will be suspended from the team.
The junior guard transferred from the University of Missouri in 2008. He was ineligible to play at Seton Hall last season.
Police did not know whether Lawrence had retained a lawyer and the university declined to further comment.
