OSLO – Norway's Foreign Ministry says that a Norwegian journalist who was kidnapped last week in eastern Afghanistan has been released.
Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Ragnhild Imerslund says the Norwegian was abducted along with his Afghan interpreter near the border with Pakistan.
She says the men were released Thursday after "Norwegian authorities worked very hard and intensely" to secure their freedom. Imerslund declined to name the men or their abductors.
Norwegian news agency NTB identified the Norwegian as Paal Refsdaal and said he was in Afghanistan working on a documentary.
