A statement released Thursday by an agency that books speeches for Edwards says the former North Carolina senator doesn't want to create a distraction for Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.
The decision extends an exile for Edwards that began about a month ago after he admitted to an extramarital affair with Rielle Hunter, a rookie filmmaker hired to produce videos of him in 2006.
The head of the booking agency, Don Walker, says Elizabeth Edwards plans to make speeches in Philadelphia and New Jersey later this month.
