In a statement released by the McCain campaign, Blunt said "America deserves a leader like John McCain who will defend our freedom and help spread freedom and democracy around the world."
Blunt and McCain both attended the Naval Academy and McCain spoke at Blunt's commencement.
"John McCain is the best person to lead our nation in these challenging times and I will give my full support to his campaign," Blunt said.
McCain said he was honored to have the support of "a fellow midshipman and a true leader in Missouri."
McCain won the Missouri primary on Super Tuesday, receiving about one-third of Missouri's votes.
Missouri often is cited as a bellwether state because its voters have chosen the winner in every presidential election except one in the past 100 years. In 1956, Missourians narrowly chose Democrat Adlai Stevenson of neighboring Illinois instead of Republican President Dwight Eisenhower.
