NEW YORK – An expert for Priceline.com says leisure travelers could benefit from a drop-off in business conventions due to the economy.
"Leisure travelers who want the most bang for the buck out of their vacations this year should look to the convention cities, where they'll find big discounts on everything from vacation packages and hotels, to theme parks, attractions and restaurants," said Brian Ek of Priceline. "These cities want and need those tourist dollars more than ever, and they're pricing aggressively.
The big convention cities include Las Vegas, Orlando, Chicago, New York, Miami, Atlanta, Anaheim, New Orleans, San Francisco, Dallas, San Diego and Washington," said Brian Ek of Priceline.com
Ek said the Web site is seeing winning bids at half-off retail prices for four-star hotels and rental cars, as well as good deals on air-hotel packages, such as $303 for round-trip airfare from Chicago to New Orleans with three nights at the Intercontinental New Orleans.
