ANCHORAGE, Alaska – A strike by mechanics, radio technicians and warehouse workers who work at Denali National Park continued through the Independence Day weekend.
But Denali's spokeswoman Kris Fister says the picketing has not slowed down the stream of visitors to the park in the busy summer season.
Fister says buses continue to go into the park and that substitute mechanics have been brought in.
Bus service is important at Denali because there is only one road into the national park, which is larger than the state of Massachusetts.
The strike was called Wednesday after six months of wage and pension negotiations broke down between concessionaire Doyon/ARAMARK and the union representing the workers.
Doyon/ARAMARK spokesman David Freireich says no talks were schedule on July 4.
