Justice David Souter took many by surprise when he retired from the United States Supreme Court in May. The departure of another Justice would allow President Obama a second Supreme Court appointment, which will almost certainly spark a now typical confirmation battle.
Justice John Paul Stevens, who will soon turn 90, has given hints that he may soon join Souter in retirement after thirty-three years on the bench. Ruth Bader Ginsburg's recent ill-health also makes her a potential candidate as next retiree.
Who do you think it will be? Stevens? Ginsburg? Or perhaps someone will surprise us? Intrade has a market on who will be next to leave the bench, so now you can trade your opinion.
