"Resurrection" begins where most other alien invasion movies end, centering on a group of survivors trying to take back control of the planet after an apocalyptic invasion.
The comic, illustrated by Dave Dumeer, was first published in October by Portland, Ore.-based Oni Press, one of the big independent publishers of comic and graphic novels. The third issue in the series was just released.
Guggenheim, who writes for several Marvel Comics titles including "Wolverine," is a writer-producer whose credits also include ABC's "Brothers & Sisters" and CBS' "CSI: Miami."
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Summit Entertainment has optioned the rights to "Arena," a sci-fi action spec penned by first-time feature writers Toby Wagstaff and Darren Howell.
The story revolves around a group of modern-day soldiers mysteriously transported from the thick of battle to a terrain-shifting landscape where they must fight the best warriors from different eras and histories in a gladiatorial fight to the death or be killed by the all-powerful operators of the "Arena."
Thompson and Wagstaff worked on the hip-hop documentary "Diamonds in the Rough," on which Thompson acted as a producer and Wagstaff a writer. Thompson also was a producer on the Jet Li-Jason Statham starrer "War."
