Paulson says markets feel calmer, bumps ahead

Thu May 8, 7:52 AM ET

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson on Thursday said that he believes financial markets feel calmer than they did in March, but the U.S. credit crisis has not yet run its course.

"In terms of the credit crisis, I think we're closer to the end than the beginning," Paulson told Fox Business News in an interview from Kansas City, Missouri.

"The markets feel calmer now than they did in March, but this is going to take a while. It's going to take a while, there's going to be some more bumps in the road. A good number of our markets still aren't performing as normal, but we're making progress, risk is being repriced, financial institutions are raising capital," Paulson said.
