LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) – DreamWorks Studios and Doubleday have pre-emptively acquired film and publishing rights to Daniel H. Wilson's unpublished manuscript, "Robopocalypse," which explores the fate of the human race after a robot uprising.
The publisher has slotted a tentative 2011 publication date. Wilson, a Ph.D. in robotics, is the author of such books as 2005's "How to Survive a Robot Uprising: Tips on Defending Yourself Against the Coming Rebellion."
His next book, "Bro-Jitsu: The Martial Art of Sibling Smackdown," is scheduled for release next year. Nickelodeon optioned the book and hired Wilson to adapt it.
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - DreamWorks executive-turned-screenwriter Marc Haimes has sold his original screenplay "Jitters" to Paramount. The sale comes seven months after he sold his first screenplay, the thriller "Elevator Men," to Summit Entertainment after leaving DreamWorks.
"Jitters" is described as a creepy family film. Haimes is also working on the screenplay for the adventure film "Family History" at Fox.
