Mary Tyler Moore Will Be 'Into the Woods' Narrator in Bernadette Peters Concert

Emmy Award winner Mary Tyler Moore, who co-founded Broadway Barks with Tony Award winner Bernadette Peters, will be Peters' special guest at her Nov. 9 benefit concert at the Minskoff Theatre.

Moore will be the Narrator in a selection from Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Into the Woods, which will open the one-night-only event. Peters, of course, created the role of The Witch in the original production of that Tony Award-winning musical.

Playbill.com has also learned that Peters will perform several Sondheim songs new to her repertoire during the upcoming evening, which will benefit both Broadway Barks and Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Although a song list has not been announced, Peters did perform two songs from Follies ("In Buddy's Eyes" and "Losing My Mind") at a recent concert in Charlotte as well as "Another Hundred People" from Sondheim's Company.

Directed by Richard Jay-Alexander, Peters will be backed by a 30-piece orchestra under the musical direction of Marvin Laird.
