Unshackled from her role as John McCain's running mate, Sarah Palin chatted at length with CNN's Dana Bash this morning in the Biltmore lobby here in Phoenix.
On running for president: "2012 sounds so far off that can't even imagine what I'd be doing then."
On whether she ought to take some of the blame: "I don't think anybody should give Sarah Palin that much credit, that I would trump an economic time in this nation that occurred about two months ago, that my presence on the ticket would trump the economic crisis that America found itself in a couple of months ago and attribute John McCain's loss to me." (Palin did, though, say she was "sorry" if she cost McCain votes)
On the tensions between her and McCain campaign aides: "It is absolutely false that there's been any tension certainly from my part or my family's part. ...They know me, they know my values, what I stand for, they know my work ethic, they know certainly there is absolutely no diva in me. In fact, we laughed about that criticism. Come on up and travel with us to Alaska and see this diva lifestyle that I supposedly live or would demand because it's jjust false. But again, not going to participate in any of the negativity."
Palin said she was returning to Alaska tonight and would get back "in a more normal routine" with her family and job as governor.
