Live from New York, it's Thursday Night! (And the rest of the late-night funnies)

'Saturday Night Live' launched its special "Update Thursday" series last night, opening with the show's take on the second presidential debate. In the skit, John McCain (played by Darrell Hammond) wanders aimlessly around the stage while Barack Obama (Fred Armisen) responds to claims he's too tied-in to Chicago politics.

There had been rumors that Gov. Sarah Palin would make an appearance on SNL soon. Show creator Lorne Michaels and Weekend Update anchor/head writer Seth Meyers played up the possibility of a Palin cameo.

As for Palin, the VP candidate appears game: "I love her, she's a hoot and she's so talented," the folksy candidate told reporters of Fey this week. "It would be fun to meet her and keep on giving her new material."

But sadly, we can report that she did not show up last night -- in any form, real or the Tina Fey variety.

Thanks to our friends at Primetime in No Time, we've got part of that 'debate,' with highlights from the rest of the late-night funnies (including Colbert, Conan, and Leno) above.
