Salem Has a Season 2 Premiere Date

Have you been practicing your witchy magic? Perhaps you're spending your weekends shoving toads down your enemy's throats in order to control them? Or maybe licking a face or two? If not, you'd better get to work, because WGN America's Salem now has a Season 2 premiere date, and it's only a couple months away. The witchy drama will return for its second second season on Sunday, April 5 at 10pm, the network announced Wednesday.

In Season 2, Mary will be facing off against new and old adversaries who want to take her throne as the witch war that was set into motion at the end of Season 1 begins to unfold. Meanwhile, the fates of Captain John Alden, Cotton Mather, Tituba, Anne Hale, Mercy Lewis, and Isaac Walton still hang in the balance.

There will also be a few new faces in the cast. Joining Salem for Season 2 are Lucy Lawless as Countess Marburg, the last remaining witch in a long line of legendary German witches, and Stuart Townsend as the secretive Samuel Wainwright, a doctor who arrives in Salem intending to uncover the seedy underbelly of the town. Joe Doyle has also signed on as Baron Sebastian Marburg, the charming and cultured son of the Countess—as well as Oliver Bell as Mary's long-lost son, who, it turns out, was alive all along.
