Samsung inadvertently calls the Galaxy S5′s display obsolete

The Galaxy S5 is only a few months old but Samsung is already saying that you shouldn’t be satisfied with its display quality. PhoneArena notices that Samsung has written a new blog post touting the virtues of the new Galaxy S5 LTE-A smartphone and its 5.1-inch WQHD Super AMOLED display. In particular, Samsung says that we shouldn’t “be satisfied with what you’re used to” from other displays, including the Galaxy S5′s own full HD 1080p display.

Looking at pixel density alone, we can see why Samsung is saying this: The S5 LTE-A features a resolution of 1,440 x 2,560 pixels, which is obviously stronger than the S5 display’s resolution of 1,080 x 1,920 pixels. Samsung also says that the S5 LTE-A’s display “is known to be 187% clearer” than the display on the Galaxy S5, which really does sound impressive although it’s very strange to hear Samsung already essentially admit that a product it released earlier this year is obsolete.

This is also especially strange because for now the S5 LTE-A is only available in Korea. Samsung seems to be saying to its customers that they shouldn’t be satisfied with the phones they just shelled out money for and should instead save up to buy a phone that most of them have absolutely no way of obtaining.
